HC Deb 04 February 1930 vol 234 cc1711-2W
Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Lord Privy Seal whether, in view of the fact that the increase in unemployment, as compared with a year ago, is entirely among women, he will include special schemes of work for women in his plans for the relief of unemployment?

Mr. THOMAS

I would refer the Noble Lady to the reply which I gave on 11th November last to the Noble Lord the Member for Aldershot (Viscount Wolmer), a copy of which I am sending to her. I may, however, add that the scheme of training for women and girls conducted by the Central Committee on Women's Training and Employment on behalf of the Ministry of Labour has been and is being extended in various directions.
