HC Deb 04 February 1930 vol 234 c1703W
Mr. ALBERY

asked the President of the Board of Trade if any steps were taken by the Labour Government in 1924, by means of international negotiations, to safeguard British labour conditions against unfair foreign competition and goods made from sweated labour; and, if so, in what trade or trades the British worker is to-day protected against goods made by foreign sweated labour?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

The previous Labour Government, during the brief period that it was in office, gave full support to the work of the International Labour Office, and I think it is unquestioned that the work of that organisation has been of value in helping to raise the standards of labour conditions.
