HC Deb 04 February 1930 vol 234 c1714W
Mr. CHRISTIE

the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will, when sums of money are offered to him for the repayment of the National Debt, suggest to the donors that their gifts might be entrusted to the Forestry Commissioners, with instructions to plant a forest, or a section or a block of trees, according to the amount handed to them, and by naming the area after the donor to perpetuate a record of his generosity and patriotism; and, if he approves of the idea, whether he will bring it to the notice of those who have already presented sums of money for this purpose and enable them, if they think fit, to transfer their donations to this object?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

I am not prepared to adopt the course suggested in the question.
