HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 c1998W
Mr. STEPHEN

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if any of the local authorities have recently had to obtain a loan with the sanction of the Department of Health in connection with Poor Law relief; and, if so, whether he will consider making a condition of granting such sanction an increase in the rates of relief paid in respect of children of from 2s. to 4s. a week?

Mr. W. ADAMSON

No applications for sanction to borrow in respect of expenditure on the relief of the able-bodied unemployed have been made by Poor Law authorities since April, 1928. The terms and conditions attaching to any future loans will be considered if and when application is made.
