HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 cc1997-8W
Mr. STEPHEN

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is now in a position to state What steps he intends to take, by legislation or otherwise, to protect the rights of unemployed men and women on the end of the prolongation of insurance benefits, in view of the fact that the Prudential and other approved societies have intimated to many of their members that they will cease to be eligible for insurance benefit at the end of this year if no such legislation is passed or other steps taken to prevent it?

Mr. W. ADAMSON

I am aware of the fact that certain societies are issuing intimations in the sense indicated in my hon. Friend's question. The matter is engaging the attention of the Government, but I am not at the moment in a position to make any statement on the subject.
