HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 c2022W
Mr. HANNON

asked the Minister of Health the total quantity of fruit pulp imported into Great Britain and Northern Ireland during the 10 months ended 31st October; whether the pulp has been prepared under conditions which satisfy His Majesty's Government that jams manufactured therefrom are free from any ingredient deleterious to health; and if any examination of the pulp has taken place in order to ascertain its fitness for preparation as an article of food?

Miss LAWRENCE

As regards the first part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. and gallant Member for Buckingham (Sir G. Bowyer) on 17th November by my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade. My right hon. Friend has no information with regard to the conditions under which fruit pulp is prepared in other countries. The pulp is subject to examination in this country under the Regulations relating to imported food and preservatives in food.
