HC Deb 02 December 1930 vol 245 c1991W
Commander SOUTHBY

asked the Secretary of State for War if it is his intention to assist the cadet corps with free camping sites and the loan of suitable tentage?

Mr. SHAW

Cadet corps are no longer recognised by the War Office as such, but, as in the case of other juvenile organisations, it is within the discretion of general officers commanding to allow them, under certain conditions, to use rent-free small areas of War Department land for camps for short periods not exceeding a month. As regards the loan of tentage, I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer I gave him on 18th November.
