§ Mr. STEPHENasked the Minister of Pensions if he will consider the appointment of a Select Committee to examine the question of pensions of ex-service men and their dependants, in view of the number of ex-service men and widows of such men who are in need?
§ Mr. F. O. ROBERTSI would remind my hon. Friend that the appointment of a Select Committee is a matter in the first instance for the Prime Minister. At the 1819W same time, having regard to the objects and scope of the War Pensions Warrants and Statutes, which are necessarily confined to the provision of compensation for war injury or death, I do not consider that I could usefully suggest the course proposed.
