§ Mr. T. WILLIAMSasked the Minister of Health whether he has yet sanctioned the purchase of Brandesburton Hall by the East Riding (Yorks.) County Council 909W as a home for mental defectives; and, if not, before so doing, will he take into consideration the unsatisfactory situation of this hall and the fact that the site is only 11 feet above sea level?
§ Mr. GREENWOODI have already Oven provisional approval to the proposal made jointly by the East Riding County Council and York City Council to purchase Brandesburton Hall and 98 acres of land for mental deficiency purposes. The estate was inspected, on behalf of the Board of Control, who are satisfied that it is suitable for the purpose in view. Such inquiry as I have been able to make in the time available does not support the statements in the latter part of the question.
