§ Miss BONDFIELDThe average weekly amount paid in unemployment benefit during the quarter ended 30th June, 1930, was about £1,062,500 in the case of persons who had 30 qualifying contributions and about £330,100 in the case of persons who could satisfy only the transitional conditions. The latter amount is a charge on the Exchequer.
