No precise figures can be given of the amount of the national savings available for investment in any particular year. The best information on the subject will be found in paragraphs 45–60 of the Report of the Colwyn Committee on National Debt and Taxation (Command Paper No. 2800), which estimated the figure in 1924 at between £450,000,000 land £500,000,000.
