§ Mr. MANDERasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether with reference to the Anglo-Italian air agreement 2184W for the operation of the London—India air service, there has been any change in the policy of the present Government as against that followed by the previous Government; and what are the reasons for the breakdown of the negotiations?
§ Mr. MONTAGUEThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. As regards the second part, the negotiations broke down, as I informed my hon. Friend the Member for Northampton (Mr. Malone) on 26th February, because it has been found impossible up to the present to conclude with the Italian Government arrangements which were commercially satisfactory to Imperial Airways, Limited.
