asked the Minister of Health the number of cases of suicide and attempted suicide, respectively, which occurred in each of the past 10 years in institutions under the jurisdiction of the Board of Control?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The Board of Control have no information in regard to cases of attempted suicide. In mental deficiency institutions suicidal acts are extremely rare. The Annual Reports of the Board of Control state each year the number of patients who have died in institutions for the insance as a result of suicidal acts committed either while in residence or on leave or before admission. The figures for the last 10 years are as follow:
