HC Deb 09 April 1930 vol 237 cc2191-2W
Viscount WOLMER

asked the Minister of Agriculture the cost of carrying into effect the two resolutions passed by the agricultural conference in regard to supplying home-grown produce to Crown forces and public institutions, quoted at the end of the communiqué he issued to the Press on 19th March?

Mr. N. BUXTON

It is estimated that the increased annual cost which would be incurred in supplying the Forces at home with fresh beef would be about £430,000. I am unable to state what extra cost, if any, would be involved in supplying flour and bread made from home-grown wheat to the Forces. I am not in a position to form any estimate of the increased cost which would be in- volved in supplying home-grown produce to public institutions
