HC Deb 09 April 1930 vol 237 cc2194-5W
Sir J. POWER

asked the Prime Minister if he can furnish a statement as to the number of men, including trained reserves, in the whole of the armed forces of the British Empire per million of the population and the corresponding proportions for the other principal countries?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

Figures quoted in an answer to a question of this nature might be interpreted in more than one manner and would, therefore, tend to be misleading. The hon. Baronet will, however, find the latest information on the subject in the League of Nations Arma- ments Year Book (No. 5) for 1928–29 which was published in January, 1929.
