HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 cc351-2W
Mr. ALBERY

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the case in which a driver of one of the motor coaches of the Majestic Company, Ebchester, was fined £1 for passing a motor car at a speed estimated at 50 to 60 miles an hour, and to the defence of the driver that he had to cover the 286 miles from London at an average speed of 30 miles an hour to keep to a time table; and whether he proposes to take any action?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

The question of time tables which involve the driving of public service vehicles at excessive speeds has recently been under the consideration of the Royal Commission on Transport and is dealt with in paragraph 129 of their Second Report which has just been issued. The matter will receive careful consideration in connection with any legislation that may be introduced on the subject of public service vehicles.
