HC Deb 31 October 1929 vol 231 c358W
Major POLE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether any steps have been taken in regard to the scheme, sanctioned by the finance committee of the Legislative Assembly in January, to remove the Central Medical Research Institute to Dehra Dun; and whether, especially in view of the objection raised by the All-India Medical Association to the removel of the institute to Dehra Dun, where there would be an absence of clinical facilities and of the scientific co-operation available in larger urban centres, the Government will examine the possibility of reconsidering the scheme?

Mr. BENN

The latest information I have is that work had not been started at Dehra Dun on the 2nd September. I will bring my hon. Friend's suggestion to the notice of the Government of India, but I understand that they have already received representations on the same lines from one or more medical associations in India.
