HC Deb 13 November 1929 vol 231 c2046W
Mr. MILLS

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he will examine the sacrifice made by Lieutenant-Commander Haslewood, R.N., in order to expose the mui-tsai system; and whether, in view of the declaration of the Government policy, he will make restitution to Lieutenant-Commander Haslewood?

Mr. ALEXANDER

The Admiralty see no reason to alter the view taken by them in 1921 that this officer, who was relieved in his appointment at Hong Kong at his own request, has no valid claim for compensation.
