HC Deb 12 November 1929 vol 231 c1753W
Dr. VERNON DAVIES

asked the Secretary for Mines if he proposes to take any steps to ensure that all young persons under 18 years of age entering the mining industry should be medically examined for fitness before starting work?

Mr. TURNER

I understand that medical examination of young persons is one of the matters now under consideration in connection with a new Factories Bill. When this Bill has become law I will consider whether any change is necessary in Mining Legislation to bring it into conformity with Factory Legislation in this respect.
