HC Deb 12 November 1929 vol 231 c1764W
Mr. SIMMONS

asked the Postmaster-General if there is any regulation in his Department which prevents employés joining and taking part in the activities of political and educational organisations such as the Independent Labour party?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

There is no regulation prohibiting Post Office servants from joining 'a political party. As regards taking part in political activities, Post Office servants are under no special disabilities, but are under the same restrictions as those which apply to civil servants generally.
