§ Mr. BEAUMONTasked the Minister of Agriculture what acreage of land has been provided for smallholders since the War; whether there are any figures available showing the productive value of the land before and after conversion into small holdings; and, if so, what are they?
Mr. BUXTONThe area of land provided for small holdings in England and Wales under statutory powers since the War, is, in round figures, 271,000 acres, of which 263,000 acres have been acquired by Councils and 8,000 acres are held by the Ministry. No information is available as to the productive value of this land before and after conversion, but some general observations on the subject will be found on page 7 of the Re- 1565W port of the Land Division of the Ministry for 1928, and in Appendix I to that Report. I am sending the hon. Member a copy of this report.
