HC Deb 06 November 1929 vol 231 cc1066-7W
Major GLYN

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty what is the value of the contracts outstanding for the construction of warships at the royal dockyards and in private yards; and what was the value of work done on those ships whose completion has been suspended?

Mr. AMMON

The value of the contracts placed and then suspended was approximately £1,790,000. The Royal Dockyard expenditure incurred was approximately £44,000, but I am afraid I am not at present in a position to give any accurate information of the total value of work done by the private contractors.
