HC Deb 06 November 1929 vol 231 c1061W
Mr. HARRIS

asked the First Commissioner of Works what stone is now being used in the repairs of Parliament buildings; whether he is satisfied that it is likely to prove durable; and on what technical advice was the stone selected?

Mr. LANSBURY

As regards the first part of the question, may I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Wolverhampton, East (Mr. Mander) on the 1st instant. The selection was made on the recommendation of my technical officers, confirmed by the technical experts of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, after exhaustive investigation and consideration, and I am satisfied that no more durable stone could have been chosen.
