HC Deb 06 November 1929 vol 231 c1068W
Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether it is the intention of the Government to offer to present, on behalf of this country, any articles or materials for the furnishing or decoration of the new League of Nations building at Geneva?

Mr. HENDERSON

No such offer has, as yet, been made on behalf of His Majesty's Government. There is much to be said for the view that donations of the kind referred to, while giving evidence of a generous spirit and of a desire to assist the League, would to some extent be a source of embarrassment to those charged with the interior decoration of the new buildings, which should clearly be carried out in accordance with a pre-conceived and harmonious plan.
