HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 cc641-2W
Colonel CLIFTON BROWN

asked the First Commissioner of Works if he is aware that at the present moment the Roman camp of Borcovicus, Northumberland, is in the market for sale; and if he can take any steps to preserve for the nation this Roman fortress?

Mr. LANSBURY

I am happy to be able to announce that the owner, Mr. John Maurice Clayton, has decided to make a gift of this important camp 'and of the adjoining stretch of Roman wall on either side to the nation.
