HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 c623W
Mr. MILLAR

asked the Minister of Transport whether with a view to the protection of pedestrians he is prepared to authorise the construction of suitable pathways alongside of the public highways as part of the road schemes qualifying for grant in connection with unemployment relief?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

It is the practice of my Department to require the provision of footpaths in connection with road improvement schemes, where such provision is desirable and practicable. The cost of construction of the footpath is included in the total cost of the work on which the grant from the Road Fund is based.
