§ Sir C. TREVELYANThe following statement shows the classes in public elementary schools, maintained by local education authorities in England and Wales, containing more than 50 pupils on the registers:
know their exact position at the earliest possible date in connection with the raising of the school age next year; and whether, in these circumstances, he proposes to expedite the Government statement on the subject and to make the official announcement before Christmas?
§ Sir C. TREVELYANThe hon. Member will remember that the Government have announced their intention to raise the school-leaving age in April, 1931. With regard to the introduction of the Bill, I must refer him to the statement on this subject which was made by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on Tuesday last.
