§ Mr. DUCKWORTHasked the Postmaster-General why the proposals for the abolition or down-grading of a large number of posts in the Post Office Savings Bank Department, which are under discussion in the local Whitley Committee, have been presented to the staff with the suggestion that, if they are not accepted in toto, certain concessions will be withdrawn and the proposals put into operation forthwith; and whether he will undertake to ensure fair and proper consideration for the views of the staff in this matter?

MITCHELL-THOMSONAs stated in reply to a similar question on 18th February, this matter is being discussed on the local Whitley Committee, and it has now been decided to set up a sub-committee of that body to examine the scheme in detail. I am not aware that any suggestion has been made such as that referred to by the hon. Member.
