Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe total number of persons in receipt of institutional Poor Law relief in England and Wales (excluding lunatics in asylums and casuals) on Saturday, 16th February, 1929, was 233,400. The number of casuals who were relieved on the night of 15th February was about 11,000.
