HC Deb 04 March 1929 vol 226 cc41-2W
Sir R. GOWER

asked the Secretary of State for Air the number of commercial aircraft belonging to Great Britain; how such number compares with the number of those belonging to Germany and France, respectively; and whether he proposes to take any steps for the speeding up of the development of commercial aviation in this country?

Sir S. HOARE

There are on the British Register 234 British civil aircraft employed commercially, including those owned by light aeroplane clubs. I have no authoritative information regarding the comparable numbers for France and Germany. As regards the last part of the question, I hope to deal with the development of civil aviation in general in my speech on the Air Estimates.
