§ Mr. SHAWThe rates of pay of all officers in all branches of the Service were fixed, both in the 1919 revision and again in the 1925 revision, after very careful consideration, at such figures as it was estimated would enable an officer without any private means who practised due economy to live on his pay while meeting the normal expenses of his rank. This is still the position.
