§ Mr. GOULDasked the Minister of Agriculture if he will take steps to increase the number of inspectors with a view to the enforcing of a more uniform application of the minimum wage rates to agricultural workers?
1512W
§ Mr. N. BUXTONI have made careful inquiries into the general position with regard to the observance of the Agricultural Wages (Regulation) Act, 1924, and I am satisfied that in far too many cases wages below the minimum rates authorised for the area are being paid. I propose, therefore, to take steps to secure the better observance of the provisions of the Act and with this end in view I am increasing the number of inspectors engaged on this work.
