§ Major POLEasked the Secretary of State for India if the Government of India have made any progress towards the establishment of an All-India Medical Council; and why no steps have been made to appoint a Government commissioner of medical qualifications and standards despite the fact that this appointment is provided for in the existing law and has been approved in principle by the central and provincial Governments?
§ Mr. BENNThe Government of India recently convened a Conference of representatives of Provincial Governments to consider the proposal to create an All-India Medical Council. I have not yet received a report of the Conference. I hope to be able shortly to make an announcement regarding the appointment of a Commissioner of Medical Qualifications and Standards.
