§ Mr. KELLYasked the Minister of Health whether action is to be taken on the complaints which have been made regarding the emission of fumes from artificial silk works?
§ Mr. GREENWOODThe report of the chief alkali inspector, of which a copy has been sent to my hon. Friend, was made as the result of complaints received. The report indicates that there is1548W emission of fumes which may be objectionable but that there is no evidence that the health of the community has suffered, and that manufacturers are spending time and money in seeking to improve the conditions. The inspector is keeping in close touch with the situation. For the time being I do not think any further action is called for so far as my Department are concerned.
