§ Mr. PRICEasked the Minister of Transport whether he can see his way to secure a grant towards the Cleator Moor by-pass road scheme, in the county of Cumberland, in view of the inability of the locality, through unemployment and high rates, to contribute?
§ Mr. HERBERT MORRISONThis road, if constructed, will be a classified road, and, in view of the provisions of the Local Government Act, 1929, it would be desirable that the urban district council should approach the county council with a request that this scheme1322W should be included in the proposals to be put forward by them in response to Circular No. 298 (Roads), which I issued on 9th July. I am sending a copy of the circular to my hon. Friend for his information.
