§ Miss LAWRENCEYes, Sir. My right hon. Friend has received information regarding this case from the Newport Union. No application for relief has been made during the past year by this woman or her husband, who is in full employment. The subscriptions received by the police as the result of the appearance of the newspaper report on the case were returned by the police on the ground that the case was not one of destitution.
