§ Mr. HOPKINasked the Secretary for Mines if he is prepared to appoint a committee to inquire into the working of the anthracite collieries in South Wales, to investigate the cause there of underemployment and unemployment amongst the miners, and to inquire into the reasons why non-combine collieries are working more regularly and under better conditions for the miners than in those of combine collieries?
§ Mr. TURNERNo, Sir. As already stated, the Government are now considering the whole position of the coal mining industry. I do not think that any useful purpose would be served by any special investigation of the circumstances of the anthracite coal trade.
