§ Mr. LOUIS SMITHasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that an order for crushing machinery amounting to, approximately, £11,000, required for the construction of the Singapore Naval Base, has recently been placed by the Government contractors; if so, whether he can state that the order has been placed with British manufacturers; and where the machinery will be constructed?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANThe reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The contractors inform us that the company with whom the order has been placed is an English registered company and that 55 per cent. of the value will be manufactured in Belgium, 25 per cent. in the United States of America, and 20 per cent. in this country.
