Mr. ROBINSONasked the Minister of Health whether any schemes providing for the payment of pensions of less than 20s, a week have- been approved for ex- 1163W empted occupations under the Widows', Orphans', and Old Age Contributory Pensions Act, 1925; and whether the payment of 4½d. per week by a person in an exempted occupation provides for an old age pension at 65 years of age for the wife of a contributor, in addition to making provision for the granting of pension in the event of the death of the husband?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINOn the assumption that the hon. Member is referring to employment which may be excepted from old age pensions insurance under proviso (c) to Section 9 (1) of the Act, the answer to both parts of the question is in the affirmative.
