It is estimated that at 23rd January, 1928, 8,500 insured men and 1,200 insured women resident in the County Borough of West Ham were recorded as unemployed. The corresponding figures for 21st January, 1929, are 9,500 insured men and 1,150 insured women recorded as unemployed.
