Mr. ERSKINEasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Rumanian Government has given an undertaking, similar to that given to 433W France, to place orders in this country as a consideration for the subscription of £2,000,000 of the stabilisation loan; and, if so, to what extent?
§ Sir A. CHAMBERLAINYes, Sir. The Rumanian Government have given an undertaking to allot contracts to foreign countries in proportion to the amount of the loan subscribed by each, so far as possible. I understand that they will, however, be guided by considerations of the price and quality of the goods offered in each country before deciding finally as to the extent to which this undertaking can be implemented—especially as regards railway material.
