§ Colonel HOWARD-BURYasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that numerous and repeated complaints have been made with regard to the Little Waltham telephone exchange; that the switchboard there is a very antiquated one; and that communication with other exchanges is indistinct and difficulty is experienced in obtaining calls; and whether he will look into the matter and give the subscribers a more up-to-date exchange?
§ Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCEThe switchboard at the Little Waltham exchange is of standard pattern and is reported to be giving good service. Two written complaints have been received in the past year. There have been interruptions due to storm damage and to injury to a cable in the course of road repairs. I am arranging for the working of this exchange to be kept under special observation for a time.
