TREVELYANThe net cost per child in the elementary schools in 1928–29 was £12 10s. 5d., of which the State bore approximately 55.5 per cent. and the local authorities approximately 44.5 per cent. The net expenditure per pupil in secondary schools maintained by the local education authorities in 1927–28 was £19 7s., which was borne in equal proportions by the State and the local authorities.
