Captain BALFOURasked the Home Secretary if he is aware that the summoning of householders who may be unemployed, or on short time, to serve on petty juries at long distances from their homes is causing financial distress to those summoned; and whether he will consider introducing legislation to allow the out-of-pocket travelling expenses of juries to be repaid in a similar manner to the travelling expenses of witnesses?
