§ Mr. BROADasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the 283W Association of Municipal Corporations, which is maintained by subscriptions paid by local authorities and sanctioned by his Department, has announced the publication of a monthly journal to be called the "Municipal Review"; and whether, seeing that this journal is intended to deal with every phase of local government activity and cannot therefore be regarded as a circular or periodical devoted to the legal or other aspects of local government for the information of persons whose duties are in that sphere, and that this journal is designed for the acquisition of trading profits, he will consider the desirability of withholding his sanction to contributions from the rates being used for its maintenance?
§ Mr. GREENWOODSubscriptions to the Association of Municipal Corporations do not require my sanction. I am advised that municipal authorities may properly subscribe to, and purchase the literature of, an association for the purpose of securing information as to any of the functions of the authority. I have been informed of the publication to which my hon. Friend refers, and I am of opinion that it will be of advantage to local government.
