asked the Postmaster-General the number of letters and of parcels, insured and otherwise, that have disappeared in the post in each of the five years 1924 to 1928; and if he can give any estimate as to their value?

No estimate can be given of the number or value of unregistered letters which disappear in the post. As regards inland registered postal packets and unregistered parcels, the figures for the last five financial years are as follow:

I regret that the financial position does not at present permit of a reduction in telephone rental charges.
