§ Mr. AMERYSo far as I am aware, no trouble of any kind has arisen in connection with this question during the past six months. The hon. and gallant Member may be aware that in March last the Council of the League of Nations endorsed the view of the Mandates Commission which had expressed the hope that the Mandatory Power would succeed in allaying public feeling on this question. That hope, I need hardly say, is fully shared by His Majesty's Government; but I am satisfied that I should not contribute to its fulfilment by making a general statement on the subject at the present stage.
