§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDThe only available figure is that for the number of persons placed in employment in 1924 in the area of some Exchange other than that at which they were registered. The total number of placings of this description was 131,257. This figure, however, includes cases in which the new employment was within daily travelling distance of the worker's home.
