HC Deb 30 November 1928 vol 223 cc753-4W
Commander BELLAIRS

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether anything is yet known of the rates of duty mainly affecting British industries in connection with the Spanish tariff that is to come into force on 1st January?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I am informed that the new Spanish tariff will not come into force before 1920. After 31st December next, Spain will, however, no longer be bound by any treaties with foreign countries to accord the reduced rates of duty prescribed in those treaties, and I am having inquiry made as to whether or not these rates will be maintained.
