Mr. GUINNESSTwenty prosecutions have been instituted this year against stockowners for failure to notify the existence or suspected existence of foot-and-mouth disease with all practicable speed. Six of these cases were dismissed,756W but in the other 14 cases the fines imposed amounted to a total of£255 10s. plus£56 3s. 6d. costs, giving an average penalty of£22 5s.
